Samsung Electronics plans to stop using PVC

as part of a $4.2 billion ecological management initiative, South Korea's Samsung Electronics Group is planning to limit or stop the use of several chemicals, including PVC

in addition to PVC, the company will also restrict the use of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) and phase out brominated flame retardants (BFRs). According to the plan, Samsung Electronics will phase out the use of PVC in all new products by December 31, 2010, and is expected to phase out BFRs at the beginning of 2010. In November this year, Samsung Electronics will review and update the timetable for phasing out these substances

Samsung Electronics also plans to reduce its direct greenhouse gas emissions from the production process to half of that in 2008 by 2013, and reduce the indirect greenhouse gas emissions from its products if you get a plastic product, which is mainly suitable for novice entrepreneurs and users with relatively small output by 84million tons. It is reported that most of the $4.2 billion investment will be used to develop higher manufacturing processes and greener products suitable for plastic plates, pipes and profiled materials
